Theresa L. Cardenas

About
Theresa Cardenas is a lifelong resident of St. Tammany Parish, who was born in Covington, raised in Mandeville, and graduated from Fontainebleau High School in 2006. She received her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts in Political Science from the University of Southern Mississippi before receiving her Juris Doctor from Loyola University New Orleans, College of Law, in 2021. While attending Loyola University New Orleans College of Law, Theresa was a student practitioner for the Stuart H. Law Clinic and Center for Social Justice, in the Family Law Section (where she got her first opportunity to work with Attorney Lindsey Olsen).
Theresa knew that she wanted to be an attorney ever since she was in elementary school, and at the age of eleven knew that her passion was in Family Law. This passion is what led her to obtain a job with the District Attorney’s Office, Non-Support Division, in 2016. Theresa continued to work in the legal field for over six years, including while she was in law school and studying for the Bar exam, before being admitted into the Louisiana State Bar Association in 2022.
Currently, Theresa lives in West St. Tammany with her husband, two sons, and two dogs, Nola-Belle & Wilder. She is the 2025 Co-Chair of the 22nd Judicial District Court Bar Association’s, Family Law Section. During her free time, she tries to soak up as much family time as possible, enjoys attending community and charity events, and attempts to catch up on her favorite tv and book series.
